STUDIES OF Q-OPD INTERNATIONAL 360 PROJECTS
'Home
Grown Leaders' This global company identified the need to
quadruple the number of 'home grown' leaders in the next 10 years. Q-OPD helped
identify the UK and European competencies ie the future leadership skills
required and developed a 360° questionnaire from this information. 360°
Feedback was used in conjunction with coaching and training programmes for
developing high flying managers. The Board also went through the 360 Feedback
and our coaches helped them follow through on their development.
Creating a more 'Business Like' Culture 360
Feedback can be used to change the culture of an organisation. We worked
closely with a University, which wanted its managers and academic staff to
become more business focused. A competency framework was developed and a
360° appraisal included these new behaviours and competencies. The measure
the staff to focus on the behaviours required to make the university successful
in this competitive environment. All the staff were supported by trained
Coaches. Two years later, an evaluation was conducted and found that indeed
there had been a change in the culture of the organisation.
Dealing
with Difficult Managers 360° can be used to turn around
difficult staff, increasing their level of awareness by making them notice the
impact that their behaviour is having on their staff and peers. It also
enhances the performance of high performing staff enabling them to do their
work even better. Many people are often unaware of the positive and negative
impact they have on others by using 360° appraisal appropriately it
increases the level of a person's Emotional Intelligence.
Executive Coachiong & 360 Feedback 360
feedback is an important part of Executive Coaching. Frank and honest feedback
is often lacking the higher in the organisation a person gets - position and
politics get in the way. In order to maximise the effectiveness of senior
managers it is important that they received feedback from their work colleagues
- in a confidential manner. 360 feedback is currently the only means by which
this will happen but it the integrity of the process must be observed. The 360
feedback allows the individual to focus on the development areas which will
have maximum impact on their effectiveness in the organisation.
WHAT
EXACTLY IS 360 DEGREE APPRAISAL? 360 Degree Feedback is a
powerful method for identifying an individual's strengths and weaknesses from
the perspective of their close work colleagues. Feedback is sought by means of
a confidential questionnaire. Approximately 10 colleagues, those who work for
the manager, their peers and Boss complete the questionnaire for one manager.
Verbatim comments are also sought and included in the feedback document.
