The value of personality-based workshops, selection and coaching

As with an iceberg we only ever see the tip of a person's real character. Personality is complex and much of it is hidden from view. Having a robust, valid and reliable way of appreciating an individual's personality is valuable in a number of areas:
  • Leadership development – There are certain personality characteristics that can decimate team trust and negatively impact profits. These fatal flaws can be identified and strategies put in place to tone down negative behaviour, develop hidden strengths and the results leaders obtain through others.
  • Selection – Culture-fit, candidate-boss fit, team-fit, role-fit and providing an in depth view of traits that can't be seen at interview. Personality assessments can be viewed as an insurance for making the the right appointment as the wrong decision can literally cost £millions ...
  • Talent development – Grow your talent pipeline ensuring high potential individuals are identified and nurtured early in their career and in line with the business strategy.
  • Self-development and coaching knowledge provides insight into strengths, hidden potential and derailers in order to adapt and grow.
  • Team development – saves time, money, misunderstanding and reduces stress. Increases team-bonding, effectiveness and profits.

Our TKI is a conflict-management workshop that is useful for leaders and teams in order to learn how to diffuse misunderstandings and problems. The TKI report assesses an individual’s typical behavior in conflict situations and describes it along two dimensions: assertiveness and cooperativeness. It provides detailed information on how that individual can effectively use five different conflict-handling modes or styles.

The 15FQ+ measures the fundamental building blocks of personality. These provide insight into how people typically think, feel and interact in ways that may be productive or counter-productive for your organisation.
It is widely used for selection and development.

The Risk Type Compass personality assessment focuses on differences in the way individuals perceive, react to and manage risk, as well as how they make decisions. Based on extensive global psychological research, it places individuals into one of eight distinctive Risk Types, providing insights that have important implications for individuals, teams and the organisation.

By defining personality type, the MBTI® (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) tool builds a robust foundation for life-long personal development. It provides a constructive and flexible framework for understanding individual differences and strengths and how to adapt to influence and communicate with others in a more effective way. We run a variety of workshops from half day to one day on leadership, team work, communication , conflict-management and decision-making.

Social Styles is a powerful, easy to understand and easy to apply model of personality based upon an individual's relative assertiveness and emotional control. This results in us being one of four Social Styles. Each style has a unique and preferred way of thinking, feeling, deciding and behaving. Understanding these preferences allows us to determine the best way to interact with others.

The Motives, Values, Preferences Inventory (MVPI) describes personality from the inside out, i.e. the core goals, values, drivers, and interests that determine what we desire and strive to attain. By assessing values, you can understand what motivates individuals to succeed and in what type of position, job and environment they will be the most productive or what they can do to excel as a leader.

The Hogan Development Survey (HDS) measures the 'dark side' of personality; the side that can derail careers and indeed entire companies. But it doesn’t have to.
Dark-side personality describes a group of characteristics that can be strengths under normal circumstances, but when individuals aren’t self-monitoring, can become reputation-ruining interpersonal flaws.
These dark side tendencies erode trust, loyalty and enthusiasm and are of particular concern in relation to leadership roles. This assessment is of value in selection and for top team, talent and leadership development in order to develop strategies to overcome these natural 'under pressure' behaviours.

The Hogan Personality Inventory (HPI) describes normal, or bright-side personality; qualities that describe how we relate to others when we are at our best. Whether your goal is to find the right hire or develop stronger leaders, assessing normal personality gives you valuable insights into how people work, how they lead and how successful they will be.

The Hogan Team Report helps leaders understand their teams' mix of strengths, weaknesses and culture as well as identifying potential fracture lines to maximize team performance. The report measures five psychological roles. Teams perform best when their members maintain a proper balance of these five roles. This report forms a one-day workshop combined with a separate individual feedback meeting for each team member to get personal feedback on their three Hogan reports prior to the workshop.
