This 3 day course represents the very best mix of methods to identify EI strengths and developmental areas as well as highly practical ways to develop these skills in others. The straightforward Q-OPD Emotional Intelligence Model© and Emotional Attribute Model© subsumes the EI model popularised by Daniel Goleman (also referred to as EQ) and the SQ model described by Danah Zohar and will allow you to structure your development work for maximum results.

WHAT EXACTLY IS 'EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE' ?
Emotional Intelligence (EI) is the ability to realise our goals and find meaning in our lives by the skilful use of emotions as a powerful source of information, energy and influence. At its most basic EI is the capacity for recognising and understanding emotions in ourselves and others and managing these feelings and emotions in order to relate more effectively with others.
At an organisational level EI is about optimising the nature and quality of the connections that exist between teams and divisions. Employees in today's organisations have to cope with long hours, manage high levels of stress and function in increasingly complex business environments and somehow balance this with all the demands of their personal lives. Research shows that people with high levels of EI are better able to manage such demands and realise their dreams; fully utilise their knowledge and experience and manifest their unique abilities in productive, innovative and sustainable performance.

HOW IS THE COURSE STRUCTURED?
This course is part of the Executive Coach programme and can be taken as part of the modular programme or as a stand alone course. This 3 day course is a careful mix of theory and practice. In addition mastering the Q-OPD EI Model© and discussing the use and relative merits of a range of validated EI questionnaires. You will also learn how to:

  • Use EI questionnaires and questioning techniques to help clarify issues and development areas
  • Structure the process when working with others to gain optimum results
  • Facilitate lasting behavioural change in yourself and others

YOUR PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
As part of your pre-course study, you will be asked to complete an Emotional Intelligence questionnaire. You will receive a comprehensive EI report and interpretation workbook during the programme, which will give you insight into your EI strengths and developmental areas.
